Aernout Mik has for over a decade been a key figure on the Dutch artistic landscape, a status confirmed in 2007 by his (re)selection to represent his country at the Venice biënnale. Mik’s hybrid installation structures – theatrical, monumental spatial installations often accompanied by projections of just-as theatrical ‘actions’ – have meanwhile become his instantly recognizable trademark.
