The work is part of the Golden Sentences Series that was started by the artist in 2002. ‘She has many names’ is a sentence written by Gloria Anzaldúa in the book Borderlands (1987). In a poem, Anzaldúa refers to a female deity in permanent mutation and transformation who has incredible syncretic power and is therefore known in all cultures by many different names. However, the sentence contains an ambiguity, and everyone can decide who ‘she’ might be.
