In the series To Moscow Chernysheva shows photographs of people performing monotonous and strenuous tasks with a dignity that is not pathetic but at times even subtly comical. The series portrays coach drivers on long-distance routes to the capital photographed trough their windscreens. Russians coming from the countryside, go “to Moscow” to take part in the cultural and political life, to have a taste of the wealthy life and be a part of this important city that Moscow is. The drivers “going to Moscow”, will only catch a glimpse of the capital, deliver their cargo, and drive back to where they came from.
