Arrows is one of a series of animated films shown during Suchan Kinoshita’s first solo exhibition at the M HKA in 2002. The series investigates the fluid and porous boundaries between dream, reality, and narrative through carefully staged scenarios.
The work unfolds in time through dynamic processes in which the personal relationship between viewer and artwork takes shape. The animation Pijlen [Arrows] plays, in a poetic and subtle way, with concepts such as time, place, and narrative. The arrows suggest direction and an endless progression. But are they actually going anywhere?
