 MASS, 2009, is a sound system that began life through the replicating of the original ‘Cave Crew’ speaker stacks, then continued to grow via donations of its different components from the public. Resembling the mass of speakers that would typically be used for rave parties, the sound system takes on a more physical presence when exhibited in a gallery space. The work is reconfigured differently whenever it is exhibited, acting as a sculptural metaphor for the people brought together in congregation.
