IN SITU / Moussem Collection: Mostafa Saifi Rahmouni – The Front Line
The solid oak sculpture represents a chair, instantly suggesting an ambiguity between design pieces and sculptural objects. The seat is made of a single glass place in which we discern the bottleneck and top part of a standard bottle. The utilitarian aspect of the object disturbs and causes unease. lnspired by a form of torture and placed against the wall, it evokes punishment and approaches physical violence as an abuse of power. The minimalism of the sculpture freezes the cruelty of this type of practice that marked Morocco's Years of Lead.
