In Waterfall of Words (1978), elements from almost all of Schleber's earlier works come together: light and shadow, objects, colours, letters, the abstraction of words. Waterfall of Words consists of a large number of cotton strips on which words have been painted. The colour with which the word is painted depends on the initial letter; each letter of the alphabet has its own colour.

Because the strips with words in Waterfall of Words overlap and the words have different colours, one automatically tries to make relationships between different words with the same colour, or one tries to fill in letters where they are not visible. This way, Schleber invites an abstract and poetic approach to language.
