M HKA, Antwerp

M HKA reserves its fifth floor for surprising interventions and intimate pop-up presentations. INBOX is a place that inspires and surprises, one that offers us a glimpse into the world of passionate thinkers and doers. With INBOX, M HKA creates a physical space in which the museum addresses often-recurring questions.

In the periods between the various events, we present a selection of our collection works, with particular attention to video art.

INBOX can be visited for free.

‘Khareji’ means foreigner or stranger in Persian. During the Summer of 2015 Bart Van Dijck was invited for a residency at the Paradise Art Center in Iran. Over the course of his residency Van Dijck questioned his own cultural identity and status as a foreigner. He assembled a traditional Kempish farmers outfit and had himself photographed at different locations throughout Iran. In INBOX Van Dijck reflects on his travels and impressions in a multimedia installation.

Bart Van Dijck experiments with different media, such as: video, photography, sculpture, installation and performance. His interest in folk traditions and rituals plays an important part in his hybrid practice and feeds his research in cultural identity.
