09 February - 04 March 2018
M HKA, Antwerp

M HKA reserves its fifth floor for surprising interventions and intimate pop-up presentations. INBOX is a place that inspires and surprises, one that offers us a glimpse into the world of passionate thinkers and doers. With INBOX, M HKA creates a physical space in which the museum addresses often-recurring questions.

In the periods between the various events, we present a selection of our collection works, with particular attention to video art.

INBOX can be visited for free.

Dear Agathe, Agathe dear…

'My silences had not protected me. Your silence will not protect you. But for every real word spoken, for every attempt I had ever made to speak those truths for which I am still seeking, I had made contact with other women while we examined the words to fit a world in which we all believed, bridging our differences.'
- Audre Lorde, The Cancer Journals

The 'cancer' diagnose is overwhelming. Suddenly you are a foundling in the world of the sick, a 'patient' with an unclear future. As everything comes to a standstill, surviving is the absolute priority.

Re-inventing yourself implies failure, trying again, re-examining, until new and unexpected perspectives do emerge.

Dear Agathe, Agathe dear ... is a kaleidoscopic 'work in progress', a multimedia project inspired by complex experiences. It shows the scarred body, challenges its prevailing codes and examines its historical, socio-political context.

Dear Agathe, Agathe dear ... joins a still young tradition in which mostly female artists embrace their vulnerability and, despite their insecurity, draw strength to show themselves…

A gently swelling polyphonic choir that embraces, understands, heals, and above all, celebrates life.

Due to the weather forecast the reading has been moved to 3 March 2018 at 14:00 in the auditorium.

This presentation is accompanied by the reader “Dear Agathe, Agathe dear... ”, which includes texts by Sue Spaid, Dr. Nathalie Roche and Lieve Van Stappen.
Published by Fluff productions, issued in 350 copies and for sale in the M HKA bookshop for €10.

Lieve Van Stappen will be present in the presentation on: Sunday 11.02, 18.02 and 25.02, and on 02.03, 03.03 and 04.03.
