The M HKA reserves its fifth floor for surprise events and intimate pop-up presentations. INBOX is a place that both inspires and surprises, and grants us a glimpse into the universe of passionate thinkers and doers. With INBOX, M HKA creates a physical space in which the museum addresses often-reccuring questions. In between the various events, we show a selection of our collection work, paying particular attention to video art.

Maono means 'vision' in Swahili. For this project, 15 artists from Lubumbashi accepted the invitation to take part in an exploration of the future, and to design future scenarios together with students and young people from their own towns and from Brussels.

The exploration took place three years running during a month of exchange in Lubumbashi, the provincial capital of Katanga (Democratic Republic of Congo). Future scenarios were discovered following orientation, observation, construction, combination, conversation, navigation and creation.

In roadbooks with 21 missions, the students worked out future prospects in words and images.  Imagination and depiction were important, looking and seeing, making it tangible or visualisation of otherwise abstract or vague future prospects.

The frameworks, viewpoints, perspectives and horizons by the artists from 10 different disciplines, place future scenarios in perspective.
