INBOX: Ziekenhuisschool – Showing Off 4

M HKA reserves its fifth floor for surprising interventions and intimate pop-up presentations. INBOX is a place that inspires and surprises, one that offers us a glimpse into the world of passionate thinkers and doers. With INBOX, M HKA creates a physical space in which the museum addresses often-recurring questions.
In the periods between the various events, we present a selection of our collection works, with particular attention to video art.
INBOX can be visited for free.
Schools regularly organise cultural activities such as theatre and film performances, workshops and museum visits. Children and youngsters who attend classes at hospital school De Leerexpert often lack these opportunities. Reason enough for De Leerexpert Ziekenhuisschool and M HKA to join forces, for the fourth year in a row. This year too, a number of works from the M HKA collection travelled to the hospital school, where the pupils could get acquainted with contemporary art.
In workshops under the guidance of professional artists, the pupils then experimented with different materials and media. This exhibition is a narrative about the wonder, experiment, action and creativity that arise when children and youngsters are exposed to contemporary art. For the M HKA, this project is part of research into a new way of thinking about the public, whereby the visitor is seen as a co-owner, through dialogue, participation and co-creation. What happens if the museum puts relations and encounters centre stage?
