Jan Van Munster – The Energy of the Sculptor

From the early Sixties, Jan van Munster (°1939, The Netherlands) has been concentrating on the topic of energy, as a metaphor for life and the relationship of art with this theme.
This energy is found in both the content and the material of his works. As for content, there may be polarities such as positive and negative or attraction and repulsion. As for materials, there is a distinction between the implicit presence of energy in materials formed by energy, such as granite and glass, and its explicit presence in the shape of heat or light for example.
