Jelle Jespers — Nueva Visión
Diagonal cero n° 23, Edgardo Antonio Vigo
Magazine | diagonal cero n° 23, Edgardo Antonio Vigo, 1967. Design by Edgardo Antonio Vigo and Luis Pazos
In the same period, a less institutional but equally influential practice emerges, centred on figures such as Edgardo Antonio Vigo, a visual poet, artist and publisher.
Vigo is fascinating because he treats the magazine as an artistic medium in its own right. Through initiatives such as WC, DRKW’60 and above all Diagonal Cero, he creates an open platform for concrete and visual poetry. What intrigues me is how typography here becomes almost performative. It is no longer simply a carrier of text, but an action. Letters become material: they are folded, cut, distributed and mailed. Publication becomes an event rather than an end product.
