These Commercials for New York hotel rooms (Suites, Chelsea an YWCA) were originally made to announce an installation / performance in three rooms in New York. These rooms were linked by a fictional narrative of three women who arrive simultaneously in New York and check into a hotel. Lynn Hershman Leeson paid someone to inhabit a room at the Chelsea Hotel. Visitors then had to absorb the room by the smell, sound and clothing of the inhabitant.

Lynn Hershman Leeson sees these films as electronic haiku, which in less than 1 minute leave an impression of the installation and performance.
