LATT: new art in Antwerp 1958-1962 #5 but vision itself
Enrico Castellani (b. 1930) studies from 1952 to 1956 at La Cambre in Brussels. He sets up in Milan in 1959. Under Fontana’s influence Castellani makes structured monochrome ‘superficie’ (surface-area paintings). Friends with Manzoni. Together they found the Azimuth gallery, and publish two issues of the Azimuth review, devoted to new international art.
