LATT: new art in Antwerp 1958-1962 #5 but vision itself
Christian Megert (b. 1936) begins with paintings that combine monochromy and various surface materials. In 1959 he commences work with mirrors as light reflectors. He makes mirrored spaces, mirror- and glass books, and later also works with artificial light as design element. In 1961, he puts his ambition into words: ‘I want to construct a new space, a space without beginning or end, wherein everything lives and is brought to life, a space that is at once quiet and loud, motionless and moving.’
