24.000 printed sheets, crumpled
With And They Still Seek The Traces Of Blood, Quereshi translates the aesthetic of miniature painting into the context of a monumental installation. He creates an environment with 20,000 large sheets of paper. The sheets, printed on both sides with images from the artist's earlier floor paintings, are crumpled up into a gigantic heap. Taken together, the sheets of paper may be seen as representations of the numerous cases of conflict and violence taking place every day throughout the world. The action of crumpling suggests a 'throwaway' ignorance - the fact that such happenings for the most part pass as unnoticed or ignored.
