The work 'Concetto Spaziale: Attese' by Italian artist Lucio Fontana consists of a white canvas where a cut has been made with a sharp knife. The cut is not strictly vertical, since it follows the movement of the action of the cutting arm. Lucio Fontana makes here a radical gesture, taking distance from the assumption that a painting is a flat surface where space is suggested through the way something is painted on it.
