The collection XXX – The Museum of Forgotten History, with intervention by Maarten Vanden Eynde
Bijl’s Compositions Trouvées are carefully composed montages of found objects. They are little pieces of reality, which are usually displayed in a museum context. As the artist has removed these objects from their usual settings, the overall impression created is rather odd and the man-made, fantastic character of the work is accentuated. Reality appears as something unreal or artificial.
