Large format slide projector (magic lantern) for use in academic use. The manufacturer, ‘Underwood & Underwood’, is mainly known for the production of stereoscopic slides. Projection lanterns like this are also known as ‘Stereopticons’, which can be quite confusing as this refers to a projector rather than a stereo viewer. One example of this frequently-made mistake is in Terrence Malick’s film classic Badlands.
