Ives Maes
Using photos and installations, Ives Maes thematises the influence of photography on our conception of time and space, memory and place. He investigates the role of architecture in the history of photography and, conversely, the sculptural and architectural aspects of photography. Between 2008 and 2012, Maes photographed architectural remains of world fairs for his project The Future of Yesterday, portraying the contrast between the utopian world views propagated by the exhibitions as well as the reality of these places today.
